The purpose of the American Guild of Organists is to promote the organ in its historic and evolving roles, to encourage excellence in the performance of organ and choral music, and to provide a forum for mutual support, inspiration, education, and certification of Guild members.

The American Guild of Organists (AGO) was chartered in 1896 by the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York. It presently has over 21,000 members throughout the world; as such it is the largest national professional association serving the organ and choral fields.

It is also the largest membership organization in the United States dedicated to a single instrument. The national headquarters of the AGO is in New York. There are over 340 chapters and nine regions.

Please see our headquarter’s web site at for further information about the American Guild of Organists. There you will find information about Education and Certification, Professional Development, and Regions and Chapters.
